Customer Reviews of 50+ Personal Accident Plan

Customer claim feedback 2019:
“You have added brightness to a very dark year…it’s nice and comforting to know that I am well and truly protected with cover for my subscription dues per month. A massive thank you to you and all of the team.”

Geoffrey, 66, Peterborough
Why I bought the cover: “The main reason we took out the policy was because I’d taken on this new job and it was quite a hazardous job, we’re out in all weathers, anything could happen, I could have a road accident or anything like that. Jan decided, that’s my wife, that it would be a good idea to take out some sort of cover. So that’s what we did”

My Accident: “I went to work one morning to recover a vehicle from a village outside of Peterborough. The weather deteriorated into a blizzard and it got quite severe and I had to jump off the truck because of the conditions and fractured my thumb. As I was off work, I was getting no wages from my company because they don’t have an insurance policy”

“The insurance policy we took out came in very handy as it was the middle of winter and the extra money came in very handy to keep us warm for the extra fuel bills that we needed whilst we were here all the time”

The service I received: “We couldn’t believe the service we got from them. When we rang them up, they were so helpful, they ran through what I was covered for and what I wasn’t covered for…. Absolutely perfect”

“The policy that I did take out…was a huge asset to us and I would recommend it to anybody I know and work with”

Christine, 59 from Nairn in Inverness-shire
My Accident: “I’ve never broken anything in my life before and couldn’t believe the pain after another cyclist crashed into me. Luckily I had taken out accident cover, just in case, and I am so glad I did. It really helped me get through this trauma with a financial cushion. I had to have two operations and ended up being off work for nine weeks.”

Christine got a £4,200 payout from the personal accident policy she had taken out.

“I have told all my work colleagues and friends how good this cover is, just in case they ever need it.”

Bruce, 66, Milton Keynes
Why I bought the cover: “I just thought it was a good idea. If I was injured. I’m on my own. I live here on my own. I thought I better take on some sort of insurance policy to cover me”
Why this policy: “I thought now that I’m getting old, I better have some insurance. I was injured many years ago and was covered by insurance then, so thought it was a good idea to have one now”

Richard, 54, Bracknell
Why I bought the cover: “I had no other cover…to protect myself in case anything happened to me
Why this policy: “The price”

Pearleta, 55, Bristol
Why I bought the cover: “It covers you abroad. It’s a good policy, so I would recommend it”

Stephen, 60, Dyfed
Why this policy: “It was just such good benefits…better than I was expecting to get”
Customer Experience: I would rate it 5 (out of 5)”

Fractures are covered by the 50+ Personal Accident Plan but they must be as the result of an accident and must not be caused by an unhealthy bone or those that are unable to withstand normal stresses.  If the bone is unhealthy, for example you have osteoporosis, you may still be covered if the accident was severe and would clearly have caused a healthy bone to break.

The policy wording defines an accident as “A sudden identifiable violent external event that happens by chance and which could not be expected; or unavoidable exposure to severe weather.” If this event were caused by a medical condition, whether diagnosed or not, it would not be considered an accident under the policy and a claim would not be paid.  For example, if a customer blacked out, fell and suffered a fracture, this would not meet the policy definition of an accident and the claim could not be paid.

The single policy covers you only. The joint policy covers you and the partner who is living with you as a couple, at the same address, for at least 3 months at the date of their accidental death or injury.

You can apply for the cover if you are between 50 and 79 years old and can be covered until your 85th birthday.

For just 55p a day you’ll be covered 24 hours a day, both at home and abroad, for up to three claims for accidental injuries in any 12-month period.

What’s more, you can add your partner to your plan – with a 10% saving over 2 single plans. Your partner must be aged 50 to 79 and living with you.
